Marine cadets start sit-in
Cadets of Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Academy (BMAF) in the port city began a sit-in on its parade ground to press home their two point-demand, including issuing of Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDC) which are necessary for joining the seagoing ships.
A total of 178 cadets took part in the sit-in carrying different banners with slogans.
Ex-cadets of BMFA expressed solidarity with the programme.
Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock AKM Jafarul Haque along with BMFA principal assured the cadets of taking up their demands to the minister and authorities concerned.
MFA Principal Captain ATGM Sarkar said the process of issuing CDC depends on government.
He said a new regulation is being formulated to solve the problems.
However, the cadets threatened to launch tougher movement if their demands are not fulfilled.
