4 killed in road crashes

Four people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Kishoreganj on Monday and yesterday. Our staff correspondent reports: Three people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in the city on Monday and yesterday. The deceased are Ganesh Charan Das, 38, a fish trader, Tipu Sultan Khokan, 45, a ward level leader of BNP, and a 35-year-old unidentified man. Ganesh was killed as a bus ran over him near Sanir Akhra bus stand while he was crossing road around 4:00am on Tuesday. The unidentified man was killed on the spot as an unknown vehicle ran over him at Sonargaon hotel crossing around 2:00am on Tuesday. Tipu was killed and two others were injured when a motorcycle plunged into a roadside ditch while he was riding on the back seat of the motorcycle at Gulistan at about 10:00pm on Monday. Police recovered the body and sent it to DMC morgue for autopsy. Our Kishoreganj correspondent adds: A 12-year-old boy was killed as a goods-laden truck crushed him while he was crossing Kishoreganj-Bhairab road on his way to school in front of BTCL office near Bazitpur bazaar in the district yesterday. The deceased was identified as Jamran Mia, son of Md Amad Mia of Bahernagar village in Bazitpur and a student of class seven of Bazitpur Pilot High School. After the accident, agitating locals vandalised the truck and blocked the road for around one hour. Police arrested the truck driver, Dulal Mia, from the spot.
