Road crashes kill 5, injure 20
Five people were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents in Gazipur and Khagrachhari yesterday.
Our Khagrachhari correspondent reports: A minor girl was killed as a speeding jeep crushed her while she was crossing road in Darogapara area under Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Samea Akter, 6, daughter of Anisur Rahman of the same area.
UNB from Gazipur adds: Four people, including three members of a family, were killed and 20 others hurt in a triangle road accident on Kaliakoir-Nabinagar road at Tetuibari in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased are identified as Liton Khan, 45, his wife Elina, 40, son Dipu, 8, and private car driver Jibon, 22. They all are from Ghatail upazila in Tangail. The injured were admitted to local hospital.
Police said the accident took place when a truck hit a bus while overtaking and later the two vehicles hit another private car, which was coming from opposite direction, leaving four dead on the spot.
The private car was badly damaged and the truck fell into a roadside ditch following the accident.
Police seized the bus and the truck, but drivers and helpers managed to escape.
