Another RU girl kills herself
A female student of Rajshahi University committed suicide jumping into a pond after taking sedatives Friday night.
Deceased is Umme Habiba alias Mimi, 19, a third semester student of marketing department and a resident of Taposi Rabeya hall.
With Mimi, four students of RU have committed suicide over the last four months.
The dormitory sources said Mimi took 12 sedatives around 9:00pm on Friday and jumped into a pond inside the hall half-hour later.
Hearing the sound, guards of the dormitory rescued Mimi unconscious and rushed her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Mimi's classmates said she had a love affair with another classmate and she might have killed herself, as her family did not allow her to marry the boy.
The hall sources said Mimi was talking with her boyfriend over mobile phone around 8:00pm Friday and she might have committed suicide over disagreement with the boy.
Akbar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, said an unnatural death (UD) case has been filed with the police station.
In the month of March, three students of Rajshahi University committed suicides.
