Shafiur Rahman passes away
Shafiur Rahman, eminent classical music promoter of the country and founding general secretary of Shuddha Sangeet Prashar Gosthi (SSPG), passed away yesterday. He breathed his last at his Kalabagan residence in the city around 9:40am, says a press release. He was 80. Born in 1931, Shafiur was a devoted admirer of classical music that led him to found the SSPG. His body was taken to Biswa Sahitya Kendrya where people paid their last tributes. He was buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard after his Namaz-e-Janaja at Basiruddin Road in Kalabagan.
