Police arrested three Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists on charge of picketing during strike on Dhaka University campus yesterday. Two of them were arrested from Aziz Supermarket at Shahbagh intersection and another from Curzon Hall area in the morning. JCD, student wing of the main opposition BNP, called a two-day strike in protest against the naming of an under-construction female student dormitory after Begum Sufia Kamal Hall instead of Begum Khaleda Zia Hall. DU transport department's officials alleged that the JCD men vandalised four buses, including two of the university, during the strike. Bahalul Haque Chowdhury, examination controller of DU, said no classes were held at the university but examinations of 20 departments were held. Police obstructed the processions of JCD in Kataban and Central Shaheed Miner area. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Chhatra League brought out an anti-strike procession on the campus.
