43 students killed as truck plunges into ditch; driver said to be talking on mobile, flees; nation in mourning (July 12, 2011) I am from Mirsarai and passing the most shocking time of my life. Abu Torab Govt Primary school won the match. So the supporters were in a festive mood and shouting on the truck. I heard that when a van came from opposite side, the vehicle carrying the students lost control and fell into the roadside ditch. The tournament created festive competitive mood among the students and teachers, but everything has become a tragic event. We hope communities come forward to console.
Saidul Islam Our road sector is under the grip of illiterate and malnourished men having no road sense.
Ma Khan Most of the drivers do not have sufficient skills/training in driving vehicles on the highway. Moreover, they usually use cell phones while driving. Traffic department do not take action against those who use cell phone during driving as this unsafe practice is being continued. Traffic department should take stern action against the drivers who run the vehicles unsafely. Strong and proper traffic rules should be imposed on using cell phone while driving.
Mayen Uddin Tazim Almost everyday this kind of accident is taking place and none get punished. So far I know there is no strong law to punish these drivers for making an accident. How many lives needed to shake the Govt. to make such law where driver would get strong punishment? Please think of these families how they will survive now.
Muntasir H Who organised Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament, they should have arranged safe road also.
Eddo Brandis Drivers should not be allowed even to keep mobiles in their pockets. Shocked to read this news and have no words to comment. Only pray for the grieved families.
Khawaja Javaid Akhtar Deaths of schoolboys in Mirsarai shocked us very deeply. Reckless driving is only responsible for this accident. This loss can never be made up.
Shahadat hossain This is a tragedy after the BDR incident. May Allah keep them in heaven and their parents strength to overcome the shock.

BNP asks home minister to quit; Sahara regrets excesses; case filed against Abdin
(July 7, 2011)
I fail to understand why the home minister fails to control law enforcers during hartal. Mere regret is not going to stop further agitations by the oppositions. The next phase will be unfolded even if she regrets or condemns the police action. The picture is clear evidence.
Faqrul If lawmakers try to disobey the law, he should be given this type of treatment. I appreciate Bangladesh Police for doing the job.
Sawgat Chowdhury The heavy handed approach happened under the instruction of the authority, and done for bigger political interest or party's gain. But the game is definitely a dangerous one. We cannot afford to lose our political stability orchestrated by both political parties ahead of election. This trend must be stopped.
Shamima Begum Shelley People have seen everything on TV channels. Police officer Biplob and Harun should face trial for their unlawful activities.
Sami Power corrupts a man. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. If no action is taken against those who are doing these sorts of incidents then it will be very much regrettable.
Tumpa This is not the way to solve the situation. We need democracy. But in the name of democracy we do not need autocracy. This proves how much regrettable behaviour we mass people are getting.
Hamid When a political party is in power their first duty is to listen to the oppositions and convince their members. If Hasina thinks of a no caretaker government, she should take opinion of the people.
GLM This picture tells the strategy and mind set of the ruling party. A nation can not be run by a brutal force for ever. IGP, Home Minister and PM must be held accountable for using the law enforcers as a torture apparatus. Otherwise confrontation and total obliteration will increase for which the AL government will be responsible.
