Road crashes kill 9

Nine people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka Chittagong, Chandpur, Bogra and Brahmanbaria on Thursday night and yesterday. Staff correspondent from Chittagong reports: Four people were killed and five others injured when a tempo from Patiya hit a standing truck at Girish Chowdhury Bazar at Patiya upazila in Chittagong on Thursday night. The deceased are Abu Jafor, 55, Bishwajit Ghosh, 27, Depayan Pal, 45. Another deceased could not be identified immediately. The injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Our Correspondent from Brahmanbaria says: A man was killed as motorbike hit him at Fandauk village in Nasirnagar upazil yesterday. The dead is Beer Muktijuddha Subhu Nath Chakraobarty, 65, of the village. BSS adds: An unidentified pedestrian was killed as a bus crushed him while he was crossing road in the city's Firmgate area under Tejgaon Police Station yesterday. BBS also says two motorcyclists were killed on the spot as a Dhaka-bound bus hit a motorbike from behind on Bogra-Rangpur highway at Gukul in Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased are Emdadul Haque, 42, and Alamgir Hossain, 24. BSS from Chandpur adds: A man was killed and another injured as a tractor hit a motorbike from behind at Purbochar Krishnwapur of Haimchar upazila yesterday. The deceased is Hossain Akhondh, 28.
