Nurul Islam's birthday today

Today is the 69th birth anniversary of Ganotantri Party and Bangladesh Trade Union Kendra President Nurul Islam who died in a fire incident took place on December 3, 2008 at his Lalmatia residence in the capital. On the occasion, Ganotantry Party will form a human chain at different parts of the country, including in front of Jatiya Press Club, today to press demand of fresh probe into his death. His only son Tamohar Islam Puchi was also burnt to death in the blaze. Nurul Islam succumbed to his injuries on December 4, 2008. Nurul's lone daughter Moutushi Islam said they demand proper preservation of the evidence on the flat and to take into consideration the probe report prepared by BCSIR which detected dangerous chemicals--Osmium and Arsenic--at the ashes collected from the spot. Criminal Investigation Department which is investigating the deaths is yet to unearth the mystery of the fire. Born in Chatkhil in Noakhali, Labour rights leader and freedom fighter Nurul Islam's political career started joining the Language Movement in 1952. Nurul Islam was an active member of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and eventually became the presidium member of the party. Later, he resigned from CPB and joined the Ganotantri Party in 2004.
