15 trapped in lift

Fifteen people were trapped for one hour in a lift of a multi-storied shopping mall in Agrabad area of the port city yesterday afternoon. Fire service officials said the lift with 15 people got stuck at fourth floor of Akhteruzzaman Centre around 1:55pm. On information, three fire units rushed in and rescued the victims breaking the wall after one-hour of their efforts. Sarwar Hossain told The Daily Star that his relative and one of the victims, Sajib, informed him of the matter through cell phone. He said people usually use the lift violating its capacity due to lack of a lift man.
