Lightning kills four
Three people were killed by lightning in Gaibandha and Jamalpur districts yesterday.
According to our Gaibandha correspondent, lightning killed two people and injured four others at Ramnather Bhita and Khamar Ballamjhar villages in Sadar upazila yesterday afternoon.
The dead are Babu Mia, 25, son of Ghani Master of Ramnather Bhita village, and Sharifa Aktar, 35, wife of Zahurul Islam of Khamar Ballamjhar village.
Witnesses said a thunderbolt struck Sharifa while she was working on the premises their house during heavy rain in the afternoon. She died on the spot.
Babu was struck by lightning when he was working at a field at his village at around 3:00pm. He died instantly. The injured are undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital.
In Jamalpur, a youth was killed by lightning in Melandaha upazila yesterday afternoon.
Our correspondent quoted locals as saying Delwar Hossain,22, son of Zahir Uddin of Panch Poila village in the upazila was struck by a thunderbolt while working on a cropland during heavy shower yesterday. He died on the spot.
