Draft broadcasting policy submitted to JS body
The information ministry yesterday submitted the draft of the country's first National Broadcasting Policy to the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry.
Obaidul Quader, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the information ministry, received the copy of the draft broadcasting policy at parliament.
The government will place the draft broadcasting policy on online for getting public opinion, talk to the stakeholders and review policies of India and other neighbouring countries and the BBC before finalizing the policy, said Quader.
The committee will discuss the policy at a meeting on August 18 and the committee members have been requested to do a comprehensive homework in this regard, Quader added.
Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad on March 11 told reporters that the policy would be formulated soon to ensure free flow of
information.
