Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the government has taken all necessary measures to keep the prices of essentials within the reach of the commoners. Addressing a blood donation programme organised by Bangladesh Krishak League on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32, she said the government would not let people suffer from any crises, including price hike. “A vested quarter may play game to manipulate the market to cause sufferings to people. But we'll not allow them to do so,” Hasina warned. The prime minister was critical of those who burned down a power substation in Kishoreganj. She urged the villagers to hunt down the miscreants who have torched the substation. “Catch those responsible for the arson attack. The financial losses caused by the attack will have to be recovered from them to reestablish the power substation,” Hasina said. She said the anti-people force never think of the greater interest of the nation. Referring to arson attacks by BNP-Jamaat activists during their recent shutdowns, Hasina said they want to demoralise the nation by burning people to death. She urged the people to remain united so that the anti-liberation and anti-democratic forces cannot be successful in their efforts to take revenge for their defeat in the 1971 War of Liberation. Hasina greeted the people on the occasion of Ramadan and wished their peace and comfort during the holy month of fasting.
