Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Obaidul Quader has advised Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members to use their own money to organise National Mourning Day programmes instead of collecting tolls from others. “Please don't collect money through extortion to hold programmes in the month of mourning,” he said while addressing a meeting at Teachers Students Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU). Bangabandhu Samaj Kalyan Parishad, a pro-AL organisation, held the discussion to mark the mourning day on August 15. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members was brutally killed by a group of disgruntled army men on that day. Quader said, “Don't undermine the dignity of Bangabandhu by extorting in his name.” DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the government to take actions against the culprits responsible for the 21 August grenade attack. Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan, Parishad's president chaired the meeting.
