Jewellery Shop Robbery
3 held, gold recovered
Detective police early yesterday arrested three alledged burglars from the city's outskirt Keraniganj and Chandpur district in connection with looting of a jewellery shop in Moulvibazar of Sylhet on July 14.
The Detective Branch (DB) of police also recovered 20 tolas of looted gold and Tk 1.08 lakh from their possession.
They arrested Shariful Islam Babu , 29, Forkan Fakir, 35 from Keraniganj and recovered 18 tolas of looted ornaments and Tk 38,000 from their possession, a DB press release said.
According to their information, police arrested Shah Alam Patwari, 42, also a member of the gang, from Kachua of Chandpur and recovered two tolas of gold ornaments and Tk 70,000 from his possession.
Admitting their crimes during primary interrogation, the arrestees said they were earlier arrested in connection with looting a jewelry shop in the city's Gulshan and they got involved in the same crime after getting bail, the release added.
