Need for nursing profession underscored
Nursing laboratory opens at Kumudini Hospital
A modern nursing laboratory was established at Kumudini Hospital Nursing Institute at Mirzapur in Tangail to train nurses.
The Australian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Justin Lee and Rajiv Prasad Shaha, managing director of Kumudini Hospital Nursing Institute, inaugurated the laboratory on Monday, says an Australian High Commission press release yesterday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony the Australian High Commissioner highlighted the importance of the nursing profession to the community and recognised Kumudini's long history of providing health and education services to a group of Bangladesh's neediest people.
The laboratory that received Tk 20 lakh from the Australian High Commission's direct aid programme will train and equip nurses to handle critical emergency caesarean section cases at the hospital. Nurse-midwife students will also gain skills in normal delivery and care of the newborn.
Established in 1940s, Kumudini Hospital provides subsidised health care services to the inpatients and outpatients from Mirzapur and the surrounding areas.
