Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday reiterated that his party would take part in the next parliamentary elections independently. The former president hoped that his party would come to power again through the mandate of mass people. Ershad, the former military dictator, was addressing an iftar party at Nuru Community Centre in the city. “I hope the time has come again for the Jatiya Party to come to power as expectation and awareness has been created among the people,” Ershad said. “Bismillah and Islam are kept in the constitution that were the demand of Jatiya Party and the annulment of caretaker government system through 15th amendment to the constitution is the victory of Jatiya Party,” Ersahd added. Ersahd said election is the only democratic way to change any government, not the street politics. Kazi Firoj Rashid was in the chair while party's Secretary General A BM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Delower Hossen Khan, Syed Abu Hossen Babla, SMM Alam spoke at the programme.
