Lawrence Palma passes away

Lawrence Palma, father of Porimol Palma, a senior reporter of The Daily Star, passed away at the National Institute of Diseases of Chest and Hospital (NIDCH) in the city yesterday due to respiratory problem at the age of 79. He left behind his seven sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. Lawrence Palma will be buried at his native village at Khuthibari of Baraigram upazila in Natore on Friday so that Porimol, who is now on an official duty to Malaysia, can attend the funeral. In the meantime, the body will be kept at the ICDDR'B mortuary. Lawrence Palma was admitted to city's Square Hospital on July 23 with respiratory problems, but he was taken back home on August 1 as his condition improved a little bit. He was again admitted to NIDCH yesterday morning after his condition deteriorated, but he died at the hospital around 4:30pm.
