Govt official falls into river with car
A government high official with his car fell into river at Kalapara ferry ghat on Tuesday as he was driving to board a ferry.
Local people, however, rescued the official unhurt along with one of his relatives.
The district administration sources said Abdul Baten, deputy secretary to the public administration ministry, was heading for Kuakata along with the relative. While driving, Baten did not notice that the ferry was on the other side of the ghat and ended up falling into water.
Locals rescued the two persons breaking open the door of the car as it was sinking.
Baten and his relative left for Dhaka soon after the incident.
