Engineer shot, mugged Tk 8 lakh in city
Armed muggers took away Tk 8 lakh from an engineer of a private firm leaving him bullet hit soon after he came out of a bank drawing the money at Mohammadpur in the city yesterday.
Engineer Rabiul Islam, 40, of Prime Associates Ltd at Lake Circus of Kalabagan, was rushed to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) with bullet injuries in his legs and left hand.
Talking to The Daily Star, Rabiul said, “The armed men swooped on me as I entered the microbus of my office after drawing the money from the Asad Gate branch of Prime Bank before I could understand. They snatched the bag containing the money and fired four gunshots when I was trying to resist them.”
He said microbus driver Mohammad Suman, who rushed him to the hospital, however, escaped the attack.
