Rab members arrest three JMB suspects in city

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested three youths in the city for their alleged links to banned Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). The detainees are Moklesur Rahman Sumon, 32, of Jamalpur; Anwar Zahid alias Setu, 30, of Chuadanga; and Raihan, 30, of Mymensingh. Rab officials claimed Sumon and Setu, who were arrested in Badda and Agargaon respectively, were the fugitive accused in the August 17, 2005 series bomb attack cases. In the cases, Sumon is a co-accused of executed JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman and his second-in-command Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, they said. They said Raihan of Mymensingh was arrested in Mirpur and is one of the seven accused in Rafiq Master killing at Muktagachha on July 9, 2007. A gang of seven JMB members killed madrasa teacher Rafiq Master as he had been obstructing their activities, the Rab officials said. Commander M Sohail of Rab media wing, said the three youths were closely linked to JMB, and were carrying out militant activities after being freed on bail.
