Dr Karim nominated as IPCC author
Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the UNFCCC has nominated noted Bangladeshi environmentalist Prof Dr Ansarul Karim as an author in the panel for preparing a guideline for national greenhouse gas inventories of the coastal wetland.
The IPCC Task Force Bureau in its 23rd session held in Wellington, New Zealand has given the nomination, said a message received here yesterday.
The panel by October 2013 would prepare the guideline for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories on coastal wetlands. According to the scientists wetlands are important source of carbon sink, but so far the sector remained out of the IPCC analysis.
