Over 100 fall sick after taking iftar in Khulna
Over 100 people fell sick after taking iftar at Barakpur village in Digholia upazila on Friday.
Local sources said over 200 people attended an iftar hosted by a grocer Kamrul Morol at Madhyapara Jame Mosque while some took the food home.
At night, the victims were affected by stomach pains, fever and excessive bowel movement and began vomiting. They were sent to local hospitals and clinics for treatment, added the sources.
Dr Azam, a physician at Mirerdanga Hospital, said 65 people, mostly children, were admitted to the hospital with suspected food poisoning.
Abdul Halim, cashier of the mosque committee, said local people by turn are hosting iftar at the mosque.
