4 killed, 21 injured in road accidents

Four people were killed and 21 others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Natore and Brahmanbaria on Saturday night and yesterday. Staff correspondent reports: At least two people were killed and 20 suffered injuries when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Kamarpara under Turag Police Station in the city yesterday morning. The deceased are passenger of the bus Shohidul Islam, 26, and its helper Mohammad Ripon, 28. Of the injured, condition of four was stated to be critical. Injured were admitted to local hospitals. Witnesses said the accident took place when an Uttara-bound bus of Kheya Paribahan fell into the ditch after colliding head-on with a Tangail-bound bus while giving side to the Tangail-bound bus. Police sent the bodies to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. Our Natore correspondent says: One youth was killed on the spot when a Rajshahi-bound fish-laden truck from Natore hit his bicycle from behind in Chwalk Baddanath area of the town yesterday. The deceased is Abdul Mazid, 25, son of Abdul Aziz, of Chattni village of Sadar upazila. Police sized the truck but its driver fled the scene. Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds: One motorcyclist was killed and another injured when a microbus crushed them on the Brahmanbaria-Comilla highway at Tantar village of Akhaura upazila on Saturday night. The deceased is Julhas Hossain, 25, of Bhatamata village of the same upazila. In critical condition, injured Sahed was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
