It's more than just your grades!

Two of the few occasions when Dhaka city actually runs out of sweets and the sweet manufacturers get nastily busy to refill their stocks are when the nationwide SSC and HSC exam results are published. Parents display varying degrees of anxiety to be followed by glee or disappointment but it's again the students who stand the test of the day. For them, sometimes an exam result is just another excuse to bond and hold the memories. It's about sharing the happiness of the day with people close to their life. It might spur to catch up on old friends and relive the past moments. Sometimes it's about taking in and appreciating all the greetings and love showered by close ones. It might even be a day to realize one's own position in the little spectrum of life which one belongs to and that success is a combination of skill, wit, dedication and luck. Friends whose luck did not shine as bright, it's about holding them close till the hurt subsides, about rebuilding faith and instilling confidence. It means progressing from old circles to new ones, stepping into a new phase of life leaving behind spaces close to the heart. We embrace with tears and learn to let go in the same breath. But as we do that, we grow and know that some evening in the rains we are feeling lonely, we'll have memories to look back to and fondly smile upon. To sum the story up, it's more than the numbers or grades; it's about something more lasting, more humane.
