Create a culture of constructive criticism
It's unfortunate that in our country constructive criticism is almost non-existent. When we criticize something we generally use a range of disgraceful words that often create unhealthy conflicts and confusions in our society. As a consequence, criticism often becomes synonymous to harassment. We fail to understand that every individual or institution has its own flaws and limitations.
However, it's because we all are imperfect, we all have some scopes to improve ourselves. We can only minimize our limitations by getting timely feedback from people around us. This feedback can sometimes come as suggestions or it can also come as constructive criticisms that must aim to show us the right direction. However, we often fail to understand the role of criticism in helping something grow and improve.
Rather we use our “right to criticize” as a tool of verbal abuse. This statement becomes evident when we look at our sociopolitical culture. In a democratic country, constructive criticism must act as a catalyst of gradual reform of policies and strategies. Conversely, when our comments and criticisms are characterized by an evident tone of allegation, it inevitably creates a sick cycle of unhealthy rivalry.
As a result, the zeal to improve ourselves gets buried under it. This has become a norm in our country as the general people also do not understand the language that they must use to criticize others. We must collectively strive to create an honest culture of constructive criticism, which will eventually prove to be a mutually beneficial proposition for those who criticize and those who are criticized.
