The Detective Branch of police will investigate the Milon killing case. Milon's mother Kohinoor Begum filed the case with the Judicial Magistrate's Court on August 3 in connection with the killing of Milon in a mob beating in Companyganj of Noakhali last month. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday gave a cheque of Tk 1 lakh to the family of Milon. Awami League presidium member Obaidul Kader handed over the cheque to Milon's mother and offered sympathy to the grief-stricken family members on behalf of the premier. Kader also handed over a cash amount of Tk 50,000 to Rafiqullah, father of the businessman Mosharraf Hossain Masud who was shot dead by robbers at Char Kakra of Companyganj before the mob beating took place. Meanwhile, the higher authorities have sought explanation from four policemen in connection with the death of Milon. Noakhali Superintendent of Police Harunur Rashid Hazari said police will take necessary steps against suspended OC Md Rafiqullah, sub-inspector Md Akram Sheikh, constables Abdur Rahim and Hemaranjan Chakma after receiving their reply. OC Humayun Kabir said police had raided several places in the district on Wednesday night and Thursday to arrest the persons accused in the case. Police is taking help from the video footage captured in mobile phones during the day of mob beating to identify the accused, he added. On July 27, locals beat dead six people including 16-year-old Milon taking them for robber. Milon was caught around 9:30am at Tekerhat on his way to a relative's house and was handed over to police. But police on their way to the station forced him off their van and let a mob beat him dead.
