7 food shops fined in Ctg
Seven food shops in Chittagong city were fined a total Tk 3.86 lakh by two mobile courts yesterday for producing adulterated food in unhygienic environment and selling those past their expiry dates without maximum retail price.

Tk 2.30 lakh for adulterating vermicelli, biscuits and bread and using fake logos of popular brands.
Juthika Sarkar, executive magistrate of Chittagong District Administration, led the court with officials from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution, Rapid Action Battalion, Consumers Association of Bangladesh and police.
A second mobile court led by Zobayer Ahmed, deputy secretary of National Consumer Rights Protection Department under the commerce ministry, conducted drives at Kazir Dewri and Chawteswari areas, says a press release.
It fined Misti Mukh Factory Tk 1 lakh, Paramount Hotel Tk 20,000, Khawaja Hotel Tk 10,000, City General Store Tk 9,000, Khawaja Departmental Store Tk 9,000, Provati Cooling Corner Tk 8,000 for the same offences.
