'Tortured' woman dies

A housewife was allegedly tortured to death by her husband at Nayatola under Ramna in the city on Wednesday night. Ramna police detained the victim's husband Nayan. Police recovered the body of Ruma Begum, 32, from her rented house at Nayatola Chairmanbari around 1:30pm on Thursday. Police said Ruma died in a Moghbazar hospital. Quoting Nayan, police said Ruma fell ill and was taken to a local hospital where she died. Ruma's brother Abul Kalam said Nayan was recently beating Ruma frequently.
