People are at serious health risk as food adulteration goes unabated in the country, said speakers at a seminar yesterday. The entire nation is concerned over the food adulteration, which is the result of "greediness of a handful of dishonest businessmen," said Prof Kazi Saleh Ahmed. Even children are not free from its risk, he told a seminar on adulterated food and its impact on health organised by Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (Bapa) at its Lalmatia office in the city. To stop adulteration of food, the speakers, suggested stern action against adulterators, raising awareness among people, enforcing consumer protection laws properly, and strengthening government bodies responsible for ensuring food safety. Bapa Joint Secretary JK Boral and Executive Magistrate Al-Amin also spoke.
