Uniform rate of tariffs
This is to bring to your kind notice that the government is considering to revise the rate of tariff on electric power consumption to cover cost of production and thereby meet growing demand for energy.
It is very much logical that the users will pay for the products and services they use. Hence, the concept of providing subsidy to some users is not feasible. At present, the Energy Commission has a number of rates for different categories of users which again vary on scale of use.
Such complex tariff schedule makes it possible for a section of dishonest staff members of the revenue department of the power companies to manipulate bills and thus deprive the authorities in collecting due amount of revenue.
In order to eliminate the loopholes in the billing system a single rate of tariff for all users based on costing may be introduced.
