Elderly woman murdered in city
An elderly woman was murdered by a gang of unidentified assailants in her three-storey building at Shahjadpur in the city's Gulshan area last night.
Police recovered the body of Teresa Mandal, 70, wife of Aujit Bairagi, from the dining room with her hands, legs and neck tied with cloth around 9:30pm.
Police said they found front door of her flat open and household stuffs ransacked.
Teresa, also owner of the house, rented out two rooms of her flat.
The tenants told the police that they found the body lying on the floor on return from outside.
Teresa used to stay alone in the house as her husband lives elsewhere.
