PCJSS blames UPDF for killings, abduction
Leaders of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) and its front organisations yesterday blamed United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) for recent incidents of killing and kidnapping in Kaptai, Jurachhari and Barkal areas.
They brought out a procession in the town and held a protest rally on the premises of the deputy commissioner's (DC) office here.
They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and their exemplary punishment.
Terming UPDF a terrorist organisation, they demanded official ban on it. They also demanded constitutional rights for indigenous people.
Presided over by Gunendu Bikash Chakma, president of the district unit of PCJSS, the rally was addressed, among others, by Sajib Chakma, assistant information secretary of PCJSS, Suprova Chakma, secretary of Hill Women's Federation (HWF), and Ripesh Chakma, president of the district unit of Pahari Chhattra Parishad (PCP).
Three people were shot dead in broad daylight in Kaptai on Thursday while a Union Parishad (UP) member was killed in Jurachhari and two PCJSS supporters were abducted from Suvalong union in Barkal on Sunday night.
