One held with timber
Coastguards and forest department officials arrested a man along with smuggled timber worth Tk 2 lakh in two trawlers at Arkodalia canal in Sharankhola upazila on Monday. The arrestee was identified as Jamal Goldar, 35, of Barguna district. Sundarbans East Zone DFO Mihir Kumer said coastguards and forest officials jointly conducted a drive and caught Jamal after firing 10 rounds of blank shots while other smugglers managed to flee. The trawlers were seized.
