Ailing boy dies as parents robbed

An ailing schoolboy died as a group of robbers attacked a microbus carrying him and his parents to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) early yesterday. The victim is Al-Amin, 12, son of Mokabbar Hossain of Amdaha village under Daulatpur, Kushtia. He was a class VI student of Amdaha High School. Police said Al-Amin, suffering from chest disease, was being shifted to RMCH from Kushtia sadar hospital on a microbus. Some 12 robbers attacked the vehicle and looted cash, gold ornaments, and a mobile phone from his parents at Bagha in Charghat, Rajshahi around 1:30am, they said. Al-Amin might have died of the chest disease, said Matiyar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Lalpur Police Station. The parents could not be contacted as they returned with the body to Kushtia immediately after the incident.
