Police recovered the body of a bank official from his residence in the city's Mirpur 10 on Wednesday night. The victim Sayed Iftekhar Ahmed Bappi, 26, an executive officer of Jamuna Bank, was found lying with blood oozing from injuries on his head, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Wazed Ali of Mirpur Police Station. Police arrested Bappi's wife Mariam Chhanda and detained their domestic help. Bappi's mother Sayeda Akhter filed a murder case accusing Chhanda and three to four others unnamed yesterday. A Dhaka court sent Chhanda to jail after police placed her before it seeking a seven-day remand. Quoting Chhanda during primary interrogation, the OC said Bappi committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan with a sheet after an altercation with her. Bappi's head hit the floor while she and the domestic help were trying to bring the body down, resulting in the head injury, added the OC.
