Moudud regrets to party men

Facing strong criticism within the party, BNP leader Moudud Ahmed yesterday backtracked on his remark about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and late president Ziaur Rahman. He also regretted to the party men for his remark aired in a television talk show on August 15 that Bangabandhu's status is above that of Ziaur Rahman. “Newspapers published my comments partially which created resentment among the party men. That is quite normal. I hope misunderstanding will over and our ongoing movement will be successful under the leadership of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman,” he said at a press briefing at his Motijheel chamber. He said a private TV channel broadcasted his interview, which was an analytical academic discussion. “In fact, I wanted to say that the emergence of the two leaders (Bangabandhu and Zia) had happened in the country's history on two different perspectives and the one cannot be compared with the other." Asked if he holds on to his remark about Bangabandhu, Moudud, a BNP standing committee member, said he does not want to repeat what he said on August 15. ON PARLIAMENT SESSION
Replying to a query, Moudud said BNP will not join the current session of the 9th parliament that began yesterday. “We are not going to attend the session as the situation deteriorated more following various activities of the government,” he added.
