Collect more revenues: Muhith

Finance Minister AMA Muhith yesterday directed the National Board of Revenue (NBR) officials of Rajshahi zone to go for more revenue collection through widening the income tax net. He was speaking at a view exchange meeting with the NBR officials at the auditorium of Rajshahi Tax Zone. NBR Chairman Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed, Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) Chairman Nurul Islam Thandu, NBR members Syed Aminul Karim, Aminur Rahman, Abdul Mannan Patwari and Shah Alam Khan, and Rajshahi Customs Commissioner Lutfar Rahman, among others, attended the meeting. Rajshahi tax commissioner Rokeya Khatun presided over the meeting. Expressing his dissatisfaction over the declining trend in duty collection through the northern corridor and land ports, the finance minister informed that the revenue earning target of the next fiscal year will be increased. The meeting was informed that Tk 220 crore was realised as revenue from Rajshahi zone in the 2010-11 fiscal, which was Tk 49 lakh more than the target.
