Youth killed over Tk 10
A youth lost his life allegedly in a quarrel with his friend over Tk 10 in Lalmonirhat town Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Ariful Islam, 20, son of Shofiqul Islam, of BNP colony area.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Oliur Rahman of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station said Ariful lend Tk 10 to his friend Nur Islam, 21, son of Hobibor Rahman of the same locality, on Tuesday.
Thursday morning, when Ariful wanted his money back, Nur was hesitant to repay and the two locked in an altercation at BGB Canteen area in the town, said the SI.
At one stage, Nur hit Ariful on the head with a wooden log making him unconscious, he added.
Ariful was initially rushed to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital and later he died on his way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 9:00pm Thursday night, the SI said.
Police sent the body to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Ariful's father lodged a murder case with Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station accusing Nur Islam in this connection.
Nur remained absconding since Ariful's death, said police.
