Existing roads rot, new road projects prevail!

That seems to be the priority of the Communications Minister, possibly because road repair is drudgery: spending money, in bits and pieces, with no cream to be licked! In contrast, mega 'road projects' are big 'money spinners' and cream is there for the licking! Possibly that logic has predominated the priorities! Who cares for bad roads, better a road than no road. If buses can't ply, there are always bullock carts, to go! So why bother about it? Meanwhile, the Secretary of Road Division, can give long and detailed 'Power-Point' presentations to keep every one concerned happy! It is only the public who cry for road repairs and bad roads, not the powers to be in their air-conditioned limos! More often than not, police clears the road for the VIP motorcade, so that their progress is unhampered! That is the bitter truth, 'bitter' for ordinary travelers; but 'sweet' for VIPs! I wonder if the two and half hour long (as reported in the dailies) presentation showed the various locations, types and seriousness of the damage. All said and done, mega projects, mega presentations may be OK for the future but what about the un-repaired existing roads turning into rubble, and getting further ruined, day by day? Who is to do any thing about it? Is the Minister still there? In any democracy worth its name, he would have resigned! Can we have a vote to see if he should be sacked or not? That will be real democracy, while the 'powers that be' merrily go on putting the cart before the horse!
