Female college student found dead in city

A female college student was found dead in her relative's house at Khilkhet in the city early yesterday. Police recovered the body of Shamima Nasrin Sweety, 21, a honours third year student of Marketing Department of Dhaka City College around 12:00 at night. Victim's family members alleged that she was raped before killing. But, police couldn't ascertain the reason behind the death. Shamima used to live with her parents at Kadomtola, Purba Basabo of Sobujbagh. Police recovered the body from her cousin Jahanara Begum's flat on the fifth floor of an apartment house at Nikunja-2 of Khilkhet. Inspector Firoj Al Jalal of Khilkhet Police Station said they recovered the body after opening the main door of the apartment with a duplicate key which was locked from outside. He said members of the flat escaped locking the door. Shamima's father Alauddin Khandokar said his daughter went to her cousin's house for a visit on August 18. Shamima told her sister Hena over phone around 5:45pm on Monday that she would back home the next day, Alauddin added. After two to three hours, Jahanara's son Saiful Islam Chowdhury Rony told him over phone that Shamima has committed suicide. Alauddin alledged that his daughter was killed by Jahanara and Rony. A case has been filed with Khilkhet Police Station accusing Jahanara, Rony and Rony's brother Rifat Mohammad in this connection, police said. Morgue sources said the body bored marks of injuries in neck, hands and leg while Inspector Firoj said they found no injury marks in the body.
