3,000 copies recovered

Police recovered about 3,000 copies of snatched newspapers, including 200 issues of The Daily Star, raiding Fulbari area, outskirts of Bogra town, Tuesday night. During the drive, police arrested Harun-ur-Rashid, manager of a vermicelli factory on charge of keeping those snatched newspapers in his possession. Police said transport workers, loyal to Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, snatched about 1 lakh copies of newspapers on Monday morning, protesting news reports against the possibility of indiscriminate issuance of driving licences to unskilled people. About 8,500 copies of newspapers snatched were recovered on Monday evening, said Sub-inspector Nabiul Islam of Bogra Sadar Police Station.
