Covered van driver killed, cotton looted
Miscreants killed a covered van driver and looted 45 bale of cotton on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the district yesterday.
The deceased is Zahidul Islam, 32, a driver of Goodwill Cargo Service.
Police said they recovered Zahidul's body lying inside a covered van in DIT area of the town.
Police said the body's both eyes were gouged out and neck was wrapped with scarf.
Police suspected that miscreants might have strangulated him for looting the cotton.
Mizanur Rahman, owner of the covered van, said they lost communication with the driver and helper around 10:00am on Tuesday.
However, police recovered 24 bale of cotton from Nitaigang area of the district.
