Singer showroom looted in city
A manager was beaten and Tk 2.50 lakh was looted from a showroom of Singer Bangladesh at Pilkhana road in the city's Azimpur area allegedly by a gang of robbers immediate after Iftar yesterday.
The injured Niamul Haque, the showroom's manager, was injured in the attack and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Sohel Rana, an employee of the showroom, said a group of 12 to 15 robbers entered into the showroom with sharp weapons, vandalised the furniture, beat the manager and looted the money.
He claimed that he could identify one of the robbers as one Nooruddin, a resident of Bata Masjid area in the city.
Sohel also alleged that an unidentified caller had been demanding Tk 1 lakh over phone for the last one month to the showroom authority.
