A citizen's plea to the Prime Minister

Madam Prime Minister Please accept greetings from an ordinary citizen. I have been deeply distressed by the happenings of the last two weeks in particular. I do not wish to go into the details of those incidents, which are known to you and to the people all over the country. Needless to say that the castigating of the three Ministers on the floor of the Parliament right in your presence should not only be embarrassing for you personally, but also a matter of grave concern for your Party in general. I therefore appeal to you to take cognizance of the incidents. It is my belief that your popularity as the head of the state is fast waning. Please concentrate in earnest on the welfare of the people and listen to their voices. When I take stock of things, I find that a lot of valuable time has been lost in “tackling” the opposition, which to my mind was totally uncalled for and a sheer wastage of time. Had you converted the tragedies and misfortunes that befell you into your strength, things would have been far better today. Do you realize that you are getting isolated by the day? You must also realize that the people are far more informed and conscious of their rights than they were only two decades ago. Just as the sea is the result of drops of water, the same concept applies to human follies, with the difference that they build up even faster, often without our awareness. For once, consider the gifts Allah has bestowed upon you. You are the Prime Minster of an independent country and you are none other than the daughter of the Father of the Nation, the architect of our independence. May I thus put it humbly, that it is high time that you cherish the gifts, build your strength on those gifts of God, rather than lament on the miseries. On your shoulders lies the burden of 15 crore people and their future. May Allah take you to greater heights.
