<i>Father slaps 3-month-old boy dead </i>
A three-month-old baby boy died after his father allegedly slapped him in Tejgaon industrial area in the city yesterday afternoon.
Police arrested Nurul Huda Hawlader, father of the boy. Hailing from Gopalganj, he works as a cleaner of a private company in Dhaka.
Nurul and his wife Sheuli Begum live in a rented house at Kunipara Mominer Bari. Three-month-old Jobaer Hossain was the couple's only child.
Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Sub-inspector Monir Hossain said Nurul slapped the baby on the chest after he had a quarrel with his wife.
The baby was crying loudly non-stop and stopped screaming and any movement after Nurul slapped him. The baby was declared dead by a doctor at a local pharmacy.
Nurul told police that he did not slap the baby with the intention of killing him.
