CU admission process begins today

The admission process at Chittagong University (CU) for the 2011-12 academic sessions in 36 departments and three institutes under six faculties will begin today. Admission seekers can apply till October 10 by short message service through any pre-paid numbers of mobile phone operator Teletalk. The prospectus will be available at the university website at www.cu.au.bd, said CU acting registrar Prof Dr Mohammad Shafiul Alam. In the SMS, aspiring students must first write CU, then the first three words of the name of the education board of HSC (like CHI for Chittagong), the HSC roll number and the passing year of HSC, says a university press release. He/she then must write the first three words of the education board of SSC, SSC roll number, the passing year of SSC and the key word of the unit (like A if the unit is Faculty of Science). The SMS should then be sent to 16222, added the release. The admission test will be held from November 26 to December 1. A total of 3,791 students will be admitted this year while it was 3,660 last year, CU administration sources said. Mentionable, CU launched a new department titled Applied and Environmental Chemistry under Faculty of Science from this academic session where 25 students would be admitted.
