Seven killed in road accidents
Seven people, including a minor boy, were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Sirajganj, Jhenidah, Chittagong, Tangail and Thakurgaon yesterday.
Staff correspondent reports: One man was killed when a bus hit him while he was crossing road in the city's Banani area yesterday.
The deceased is Aktar Hossain, 35, of Namapara of Khilkhet, and an employee of Trade Syndicate Limited, of Mohakhali.
The driver and helper of the bus fled the scene leaving the bus.
Police seized the abandoned bus.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
A correspondent from Sirajganj adds: A minor boy was killed when a motorcycle hit him while he was waiting for bus beside the road in Saydabad area of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station in the district yesterday.
The deceased is Mintu Sheikh, 8, son of Abdul Hannan, of Bhuapur upazila of Tangail.
Our Jhenidah correspondent says: A schoolteacher was killed when a nosimon, locally made three-wheeler, hit his motorcycle at Holidhani bazar in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Akidul Islam Fazar, son of Abdul Hakim, of Ramchandrapur village, of Sadar upazila. He was a teacher of Ramchandrapur High School.
Staff correspondent from Chittagong adds: A shoe-factory worker was killed as a microbus hit his bicycle while he was going to his workplace riding the bicycle at the entrance of Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) of Patenga Police Station in the port city yesterday.
The deceased is identified as Mohammed Sabuj, 20, son of Nizam Hawlader, of Gilabad of Mathbaria Police Station in Pirojpur. He was a worker of Jing Song Shoe factory at KEPZ.
The driver of the microbus fled the scene with his microbus after the accident, police said.
Our Tangail correspondent says: One man was killed as a speedy truck crushed him under its wheels while he was crossing the Bangabandhu Bridge approach road at Bhatkura in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Abdul Hamid, 50, of Mamudpur in Sirajganj.
The truck driver along with his truck managed to flee the scene immidiately after the accident.
Several-mile long tailback was created on the busy highway following the accident.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent adds: A youth was crashed under the wheels of a truck in front of Thakurgaon Circuit House in the district yesterday.
The deceased is Shohag, 18, son of late Kabir Ahmed, of Adarsha Colony of Sadar upazila.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital yesterday after he was injured when a tractor hit his motorcycle on Thakurgaon-Begunbari road at Kaharpara village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased is Sultan-Al-Mamun, 50, son of Md Hafez, of Dhabki village of Birganj upazila in Dinajpur.
