RU classes resume after Eid vacation

The classes of Rajshahi University (RU) resumed yesterday after a 15-day vacation of Eid-ul-Fitr. Earlier, the residential halls of the university reopened on Monday. The vacation began on August 23 on the occasion of the holy Ramadan, Shab-e-Kadar and Eid-ul-Fitr. Campus sources said the classes of different departments held on the first day while students were returning to their respective dormitories. Meanwhile, Police and Detective Branch men were checking the identity cards of students at seven gates of the university as they were returning to halls. Proctor Prof Chowdhury M Zakaria told this correspondent that the authorities strengthened security to avoid any untoward situation.
