Dr Meherun Nessa passes away
Noted gynae specialist Dr Meherun Nessa breathed her last yesterday morning due to a cardiac arrest at her residence at city's Dhanmondi at the age of 85, says a press release. Dr Meherun Nessa was the executive committee member of Bangladesh Cancer Society and wife of former principal of Dhaka Medical College Prof Dr Abul Kashem. She left behind her one son, two daughters, grand children and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death. Her first namaz e janaza was held at Baitul Mamur Mosque at Dhanmondi after Zohr prayers. She was buried at her family graveyard at Gachha after her second janaza at Masjid-un Noor at Gachha union in Gazipur after Asr prayers. Dr Meherun Nessa passed her MBBS from Calcutta Medical College in 1950. She worked at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital from 1951 to 1958. She started private practice at her residence chamber after resigning from the government service. Her qulkhwani will be held at her residence at Dhanmondi (Road-5, House-5) after Asr prayers on Friday. Expressing deep condolence, leaders of Bangladesh Cancer Society and Bangladesh Cancer Hospital and Welfare Home said Dr Meherun Nessa was involved in many social welfare activities. They also prayed for salvation of the departed soul of Dr Meherun Nessa.
